TIGHT ENDS
There was not much
disagreement when it came to picking the top eight tight ends, but there was
quite a battle for the top spot between Tony Gonzalez and Antonio
Gates. The two former basketball players split all of the first-place
votes, with Gonzalez winning by a count of 10-7.
With fellow TE
Marcus Pollard moving to Detroit, the Colts’ Dallas Clark was a
unanimous pick to have a breakthrough season at this position. Other than
that, there were not many surprises, though Kellogg’s pick of Ben Watson
at No. 10 and Cannon’s selection of Ben Troupe at No. 10 were
unexpected. Watson, a 2004 first-round pick with wideout-like speed, played
in only one game as a rookie due to an injury. Troupe, who did see a lot of
action as a rookie in 2004, may not be ready for the start of the regular
season due to a foot injury.
